History

The history of Omya in Italy begins in 1980 with the acquisition of the society Mining Umbria Spa of Milan and its plant in Nocera Umbra.

Omya got an important breakthrough for the range of his own products (especially in the paper sector) with the acquisitions of the sites in the municipality of Carrara, thanks to the whiteness of the marble coming from that famous basins.

Omya has completed his offer in the northeast, one of the most productive zones of the whole Country, with the Parcines’s plant at the beginning and now with the plant in Vipiteno.

1992  Transfer of commercial and financial activities in the new offices in Cechov street (Milano) 
1995  Realization of a by-pass gallery for Pratone quarry in Vipiteno (Bolzano) 
1997  Inauguration of the new plant in Vipiteno (Bolzano) 
1999  Closing of the plant in Parcines (Bolzano) 
1999  Enlargement of Avenza plant (Massa Carrara) 
2006  Transfer of the crushing inside Kristallina quarry in Vipiteno (Bolzano)
2012 Optical Sorting installation for granulates of Vipiteno plant (Bolzano)
2014 Enlargement of the railway for the loading of Slurry in Avenza plant (Massa Carrara)
